we ended the day with a trip to my favorite sushi place and a temple session with our good friends taylor and nicole before the temple closes for most of february. not a bad weekend! i love being able to be there and support my rob in his interests--whatever they may be... (; love you babe!

ALFIE GOES TO THE VET

i took alfie to the vet to get his first round of shots. i didn't get a ton of pictures because it took literally 5 minutes... haha i spent at least 5 times that driving there and back. thank you 217 >:(

he was completely healthy and weighs exactly two pounds. what a cutie!

he really turns on the charm at the vet (except when they take his temperature. but that's completely understandable...) waiting so patiently for the vet to come in and tell us that all his ear mites are gone (YAY).

it was his first time in the car and i wasn't sure how he would do, especially since i didn't have one of those carrying devices. but he took a minute or two to explore the car and then plopped right down on my lap. (don't worry mom. i took these pictures when i got home)

TEACHER STATUS! WELL ALMOST...

can't believe it! it's officially official! my diploma came in the mail today and i have never been so proud of a piece of paper. alfie is pretty excited about it too. obvi.
don't ask me how long it took me to get this picture... #kittenwiggles

kinda funny since it has been 8 months after i walked across the stage. basically a lifetime.

so i have my bs in elementary education with a minor in TESOL and i also received my utah teaching license. funny thing is that i now live in oregon. soo i am submitting the all paperwork needed to be licensed in oregon (including getting fingerprinted. AGAIN... sheesh) but lucky for me, the processing time once everything is submitted is 16 weeks... seriously? currently kissing goodbye to any desires of subbing or teaching this semester. but there's not much i can do about it and i am just happy to be an official college graduate and certified teacher in at least one state...
wish me luck on the job hunt!

ALFIE

the impossible has happened. we have adopted the most adorable blue eyed ball of fluff named alfie. now the name is kinda cheesy (but totally awesome) and some of my college friends from the eled program know that i picked out this name when we were supposed to be listening in class and so it was already decided! haha luckily robbie consented (i mean why wouldn't he? best kitten name ever.) so this is how it went down. everyone who knows me know that i am a HUGE animal lover. HUGE. robbie of course knew this about me and so every few months i would ask him when we could get an animal but the timing was never right. our apartment complex didn't allow it or we couldn't afford one, our schedule was too busy with school or work so i was patient. friday, we had this discussion again and surprisingly robbie was more open to it than usual. of course he wanted to know how much it would realistically cost and all that jazz. he is so wise about that kinda stuff. this is when i started getting excited! i convinced him to come with me to critter cabana just to check and see if they had any kittens because the last time we were there they didnt have any. the second we walked in and i saw him i just knew that i had to have him. i mean not only is he b e a u t i f u l but he had such a sweet temperament and was letting robbie hold him on his back and was just so chill. anyways, i convinced robbie to let us get one and now here we are. proud kitten owners! here are just some pictures i have taken over the past couple of days (ok... two days... haha)

one of my favorite things about him is that he will snuggle right up by you and sleep. such a sweetie!

what? you've never tried this position? it's pretty comfy alfie says.
maybe it was because he always sleeps or that he is simply a kitten, but he kept us up alllll niiiiiighhtttt the first night! you would think we were new parents to a human and not a feline with how much sleep we got. he was up every two hours... we put him out of our room at one point but robbie couldn't take all the crying after a while so we let him back in and robbie closed our door and went and slept on the couch (thank babe) and when robbie came back into our room, miraculously we were both asleep. me on my stomach and alfie planted right on my head... haha oh brother. any ideas on how to sleep train a kitten? just kidding haha (but seriously if you do, call me. asap.)

taken right before bed. at least he's freakin adorable.
another thing that we love about him is that he always wants to be by us (we like this except when its bedtime... that will come later...) so when we played yahtzee, he was just content to sit in the box and watch (he was cheering for me) haha
or maybe he was cheering for rob because he got this dang yahtzee in one roll! that's cheating...
alfie deciding to try his luck and join in.

this is the only picture i took of him at the vet but we took him in for his first appointment and he was actually a total champ. critter cabana said that he was treated for earmites when he was a younger kitten so i wanted them to check and see if they were gone (they weren't) but they had to get q-tips and dig all this ear wax crud out of his ears (GROSS) and he pretty much just let her sit there and do it even though it is really itchy and uncomfortable for them. he was weighed at just over 2 lbs and then had his temperature taken (now this was where he drew the line. he does nottttt enjoy thermometers up his butt. understandably...) and then he was clipped and treated for the ear mites (which should be gone now. hopefully. ew.)
after the vet, he was pretty exhausted so he just snuggled allll night. hey, we weren't complaining!

we sure do love our alfie boy. and i can sincerely say that robbie loves him too! sorry if we turn into THAT couple that always posts stuff about their cat... #sorrynotsorry

COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE

last weekend we had such a fun time with robbie's parents, rich and toni! in my previous post i blogged about our first day with them and our adventures at the original pancake house and the international rose test garden and our second day was just as fun! we started by going over to robbie's aunt (rich's sister) and uncle's house for breakfast! we had the perfect pancake breakfast with fruit, bacon, fresh oj and the whole deal. (thanks tina for making the yummy pancakes!) then we set off to explore the columbia river gorge and multnomah falls. can you say breathtaking?!? i am still amazed by how gorgeous oregon is!

then we went to check out multnomah falls. it was so beautiful. we really are lucky to live in such a beautiful place!

all the coins that people have thrown in
 on the bridge!

after checking out the waterfall, we drove a little ways to hood river to check out the kite boarding scene. and man was there a scene! none of the pictures i took do it justice but there were probably 200+ people there kite boarding and wind surfing. my father in-law, rich, has recently taken an interest in kite boarding so he was really excited to finally see the mecca of kite boarding for himself! i have a feeling they will be back next summer to try it out! (at least i hope so!!)

these are all the kites people had setting out while they were taking breaks

i wish you could actually tell how many people were there. so crazy!!
happy boys

kite boarder coming in
even a few paddle boarders!

holy cow. they weren't kidding!
somehow this picture was taken. found it on my phone later and thought it was pretty cool.

after our adventures we ended a perfect day in the perfect way. with salt & straw ice cream! a must do thing in portland if you ever visit!!
chocolate with gooey brownie with sprinkles in a fresh waffle cone made before my eyes. YUM!

SO YUMMY!
